First Aid for Schools in Purley, Sanderstead and Locations in the Surrey, Sussex and South London Areas

First aid for schools helps key stakeholders to provide immediate assistance to students or members of staff who have fallen ill or been injured. This form of emergency first aid training covers basic treatments for most common injuries prior to the arrival of professional medical help. A school might also have an obligation to teach first aid as part of a health education program, often to a different set of age groups and usually with different levels of understanding.

First aid training focuses on specific hazards in educational environments and attendees will build skills for CPR, wound care, burns and head injuries.

Gillett Training Services is able to provide training at our own venue, or we will visit you to hold a course at your own facilities. Under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, an employer has a duty to provide their premises with the appropriate equipment and personnel so that those under their care can receive immediate attention in the event of illness or physical injury.

We can offer first aid for school courses to clients in the following areas:

Banstead | Bromley | Caterham | Coulsdon | Crawley | Croydon | Dartford | East Grinstead | Epsom | Godstone | Guildford | Kingston | Mitcham | Orpington | Oxted | Purley | Redhill | Sanderstead | Selsdon | Sevenoaks | Sutton | Tunbridge Wells | Warlingham | Woldingham

Although it isn’t mandatory for employers to have first aid programs in place for anybody except their employees, government recommendations suggest that educational facilities consider the needs of non-employees too. This can include pupils, students and anyone visiting an educational establishment.

We support these recommendations and fully advise you to follow them.

Since September 2020, state-funded schools in England have been obligated to teach health education. Statutory guidance states that first aid for schools should be taught to primary school children at a basic level, and for pupils in secondary school to be taught more detailed first aid to include the use of CPR and defibrillators. This is in addition to having key staff trained in first aid.
